Mustapha Kameleddine Chamakhi was born in La Goulette in the suburbs of Tunis in 1942. He studied at the Lycée Carnot in Tunis. Mathematics Baccalaureate. Graduate studies at the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences in Paris. Graduate studies in Economic Sciences and History of Law and Social Facts.

- International civil servant at UNESCO 1970-1976
- Managing Director of a textile company 1977-1979
- International civil servant at UNESCO 1980-2002
