Nea is Yeeyi Fari, Karukera's most renowned mercenary. At twenty-five, she spends her days fulfilling missions for the crown and acquiring precious and rare goods for her clientele of pirates.
But her heart is no longer in it. This island, which welcomed her when she was four, is as much a synonym for home as it is for prison. Nea has a debt to repay to the Queen, and memories too painful to bear.
Yet, when Governor Oluwaseyi summons her for an important mission (accompany Jahan, an emissary from Anshar, across the island), she finally sees her future opening before her. If the emissary is safely escorted to the palace, Nea will be free from her debt.
Free.
But Karukera is not for novices, and Nea and Jahan each have their own agenda. Between the assassins on their tails, the obstacles the island will throw in their way, and the emissary himself, who has an oversized ego and seems shrouded in mystery, the journey will not be without its challenges...
Rebecca grew up in hotels across France, following her parents' management jobs, where swimming pools turned into oceans filled with mermaids and strange monsters, buildings became fairy-tale castles, squash courts turned into medieval markets, and the outdoors became a perpetual quest for the Sacred Unicorn (still no sign of the animal to this day).
Graduating with a Literary Baccalaureate with a Theatre Option, she stumbled into the world of writing by chance and without realizing it. After several fan fictions praised by the Wattpad community, she embarked on her first novel in the summer of 2020 and has been generating project ideas ever since.
When she's not writing, she enjoys spending her time collecting her cat's fur and alleviating her anxiety by buying way too many books.
